Historic Ice Storm Brings Waves of Destruction (T&D World)

In February, an ice storm disrupted power to 300,000 of Dominion Energy’s customers. Thanks to dedicated repair crews and flexible storm restoration model, Dominion restored power to 95% of impacted customers in 80 hours.
This article from T&D World gives a comprehensive overview of Dominion’s response, including a commitment to minimizing storm-related damage and improving reliability through its Grid Transformation Plan:
“The utility is rebuilding, relocating and undergrounding targeted main lines and implementing new design standards to improve electric distribution throughout the system. The company had also undergrounded some of the utility’s most outage-prone ‘tap lines,’ which connect a main power line to an individual neighborhood.”
