PDi2 participated in a webinar, Resilient Power Grids: Strategically Undergrounding Powerlines, put on by the DOE’s Office of Electricity on March 22. Participants explored how strategic undergrounding of powerlines can make the grid more resilient by minimizing damages from threats such as extreme weather and wildfires.
The webinar featured a keynote presentation by Peter Larsen, staff scientist/leader of the Electricity Markets and Policy Department at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, a panel of utilities who have implemented undergrounding strategies, and a discussion with state and municipal regulators on their perspectives on undergrounding powerlines.
